Although I have no personal expeience with other Drag tires, including the slicks, this tire is absolutely the best of both worlds. I had this set 275/40-17 mounted on Cobra R rims, from June ~ November 98, and have had no problems whatsoever. Driving in rain will require additional caution, due to less grooves on the tire surface, but it is drivable.
- Air Pressure: On the street, I run it at 30# and seem to perform very well. At the track, I'm still playing around with it, the best 60' so far of 1.95 (had bad clutch), at the time with 16#. Compared to the real street radials, the softer compound when heated up does give you better traction. However, for my setup, this extra stickiness may not be enough, since my Cobra will spin them a little too much when power shifting to 2nd. Perhaps, power/traction balance of my Cobra is suggesting either ET Streets or Slicks.
- Burnout: The tire likes burnout. Let is spin once in the water box, move out, then rev it up to 5000rpms in second gear and side step the clutch. If you don't have a line lock (I don't), as soon as you side step, press your brake pedal gently so that the front wheels will hold you in place. Check your side mirrors to see that both tires are smoking. I let it smoke for maybe 3~5 seconds. You will definitely notice the difference!
